Emerging Opportunities for Fund Managers in Russia

Though highly technologically advanced, the Russian fund market carries significant credit and operational risk and is considered one of the least efficient globally. Despite these concerns, competition remains high and there are significant opportunities for fund managers in the region to succeed.

In a recent Opalesque roundtable event held in Moscow, Stephen Lewis, European Head of Sales and Relationship Management at Maples Fund Services commented on the interesting dynamics in Russia and prospects for managers and weighed in with panelists on various topics including, drivers behind the current wave of new fund launches, the evolution of the “mini prime” market, and due diligence and risk management in the Russian market.
